The Truth Is
Silicon, iron chain, metal pole
* Exhibited at Untitled Space, Shanghai, China
The artist wants to discuss the way people getting to know a new thing or another person. The process normally includes four steps: conjectured, probed, approached, and understand.
The property of silicon (similar to glass) allows it to reserve the movements made by hands and gravity. Hence, the final result seems like it is flooding while it is actually solid.
The artist installed the silicon curtain in the hallway where the work and the beholders would make inevitable interactions. People behave differently when they walked through. Some totally ignored it, some gently touched it, some robbed it fearlessly, and some were worried because they didn’t know what it is.
